The Ivy at Berlin Place in South Bend wins award from Ballpark Digest

The Ivy at Berlin Place development near Four Winds Field was selected to receive Ballpark Digest’s “2018 Editor’s Choice for Outstanding Achievement Award.”

The $24 million mixed-use project, similar in style to the Chicago brownstones that border Wrigley Field, is expected to begin moving tenants in within the next few weeks, South Bend Cubs president Joe Hart told Ballpark Digest. The publication, which covers the business of baseball, also praised the United Federal Credit Union Rooftop that overlooks Four Winds Field.

“It’s the first new construction downtown in decades,” Hart said. “People talk about how it’s changed the landscape and they are just excited to see that our owner has invested in this project.”

In a press release, South Bend Cubs owner and chairman Andrew Berlin said the development is the “continuation of a promise made when we purchased the team in 2011.”

This year two other Indiana baseball teams were also recipients of awards from the publication.

The Indianapolis Indians were selected for the “Team of the Year” award from Ballpark Digest, which celebrated strong attendance figures at Victory Field and recent renovations.

The Fort Wayne TinCaps received the “Continued Excellence Award” for ongoing growth and expansion around Parkview Field and continued economic impact that TinCaps games have on downtown Fort Wayne.
